This carefully designed route combines varied terrain, panoramic viewpoints, and progressive difficulty, offering a complete introduction to the Carpathians — from high plateaus and limestone ridges to alpine summits.
Along the way, you will reach some of Romania’s most important peaks, including Omu Peak (2,505 m) and Moldoveanu Peak (2,544 m), while exploring traditional landscapes and remote mountain environments.
🌄 Făgăraș Highlights
Day 1 — Arrival in Bucharest & Transfer to Bușteni
Arrival in Bucharest, followed by transfer to Bușteni (approx. 120 km).
Overnight in a 3★ hotel.
Day 2 — Bucegi Plateau & Omu Peak
After breakfast, take the cable car to the Bucegi Natural Park plateau.
The route passes the iconic Sphinx and Babele rock formations before continuing across open terrain toward Omu Peak (2,505 m).
From the summit, descend through the Gaura Valley toward Bran.
Overnight in Bran.
Day 3 — Piatra Craiului National Park
A full day dedicated to exploring the landscapes of Piatra Craiului National Park.
Depending on conditions, the route may follow scenic mountain villages and gorges or ascend toward higher sections of the ridge, reaching elevations up to 2,238 m.
Overnight in Bran.
Day 4 — Bran Castle & Transfer to Bâlea Lake
Morning visit to Bran Castle.
Transfer to Bâlea Lake via the scenic Transfăgărășan road, with a stop at Bâlea Waterfall.
Free time upon arrival to explore the alpine surroundings.
Overnight at Bâlea Lake.
Day 5 — Ridge Trek to Podragu Chalet
The route continues into the high-alpine environment of the Făgăraș Mountains.
From Bâlea Lake, follow ridge trails toward Podragu Chalet (2,136 m), with sustained ascents and descents.
Overnight at Podragu Chalet (basic mountain facilities). The current Podragu cottage was built in 1948-1949 by the National Bank of Romania for its employees and opened in 1950. Currently, it is used as a tourist cottage.
Day 6 — Moldoveanu Peak & Viștea Mare Peak
The highlight of the journey.
Ascend to Viștea Mare Peak and continue to Moldoveanu Peak (2,544 m), the highest point in Romania.
Return to Podragu Chalet.
Day 7 — Descent to Victoria & Transfer to Bucharest
Descend through Podragu Valley toward Victoria.
Transfer to Bucharest (approx. 350 km).
Overnight in Bucharest.
Day 8 — Departure
Transfer to the airport for departure.
