The Journey

Day 1 — Arrival in Bucharest & Transfer to the Mountains

Arrival in Bucharest, followed by transfer to the Carpathians.

As the scenery gradually shifts from the plains of southern Romania to forested mountain landscapes, your trekking journey begins with an introduction to the Romanian mountains' atmosphere.

Accommodation in a mountain guesthouse or chalet.

Day 2 — Trekking Across the Bucegi Mountains

The journey into the high mountains begins with a cable car ascent to Babele, where the alpine landscapes of the Bucegi Mountains unfold dramatically around you.

The route passes the famous Sphinx and the iconic Babele rock formations before continuing across the vast Bucegi plateau toward Omu Peak.

From the summit area, the trail descends through the spectacular Gaura Valley — one of Romania’s largest glacial valleys — gradually leaving the alpine terrain behind as you approach the village of Bran.

Accommodation in a 3★ guesthouse in Bran.

Day 3 — Toward the Făgăraș Mountains & Trek to Negoiu Chalet

After breakfast, transfer to Porumbacu de Sus, gateway to the legendary Făgăraș Mountains.

Today’s trek climbs steadily through forests and mountain trails toward Negoiu Chalet (1,540 m), offering the first true immersion into Romania’s highest mountain range.

Day 4 — Negoiu Peak & Bâlea Lake

One of the most spectacular trekking days of the journey.

The route ascends toward Negoiu Peak (2,535 m), the second-highest peak in Romania, revealing dramatic alpine scenery and sweeping ridge views.

After reaching the summit, the trek continues across high mountain terrain toward Bâlea Lake, passing through some of the most impressive landscapes in the Romanian Carpathians.

Set in a glacial cirque at over 2,000 meters in altitude, Bâlea Lake is one of Romania's iconic alpine destinations, located in the heart of the Făgăraș Mountains.

Accommodation at Bâlea Chalet in double rooms with private facilities.

Day 5 — Vânătoarea lui Buteanu Peak

Today’s route explores another spectacular section of the Făgăraș Mountains.

From Bâlea Lake, the trail climbs toward Capra Lake before continuing to Vânătoarea lui Buteanu Peak (2,507 m), known for its panoramic views over the surrounding ridges and valleys.

Return to Bâlea Lake for overnight accommodation.

  • Elevation: ±500 m

Day 6 — Ridge Trek to Podragu Chalet

Today’s trek follows one of the classic ridge routes of the Făgăraș Mountains.

Crossing alpine terrain, glacial valleys, and exposed sections with far-reaching views, the route gradually leads toward Podragu Chalet (2,136 m).

Accommodation tonight is in a traditional mountain hut, offering a true alpine trekking atmosphere.

  • Elevation: +1,100 m / -1,000 m

Day 7 — Summit Day: Moldoveanu Peak

The highlight of the expedition.

From Podragu Chalet, the route ascends toward Viștea Mare Peak, then continues to Moldoveanu Peak (2,544 m), Romania's highest summit.

The panoramic views from the ridge reveal the vast scale of the Carpathian Mountains stretching in every direction.

Return to Podragu Chalet for overnight accommodation.

Day 8 — Descent to Victoria & Transfer to Bucharest

Leaving the alpine ridge behind, today’s route descends gradually through valleys and forest landscapes toward Victoria.

After the trek, transfer to Bucharest for the final evening of the journey.

Accommodation and dinner in Bucharest.

Day 9 — Departure

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for departure.

  • Please note that from Day 6 to Day 8, participants are required to carry their personal luggage during the mountain trekking stages.
