The Experience
Day 1 – Arrival in Romania & Transfer to Brașov
Your journey begins with your arrival at Bucharest Otopeni Airport, where you will be met by your private driver and transferred to Brașov, one of Romania's most beautiful medieval cities.
The journey from Bucharest to Brașov takes you from the plains into the foothills of the Carpathians, offering your first glimpse of the landscapes that will define the days ahead.
Upon arrival in Brașov, settle into your hotel and enjoy some time at leisure to relax after your journey.

Three nights in a comfortable hotel close to the historic center.
Day 2 – Medieval Brașov & Carpathian Wildlife
After breakfast, discover Brașov's historic center on a guided walking tour.
Explore Council Square, the imposing Black Church, the atmospheric Rope Street, and the remains of the city's medieval fortifications. Your guide will introduce you not only to the city's history, but also to the stories and traditions that have shaped Transylvania over the centuries.
Later, leave the city behind and venture into the surrounding Carpathian forests for a Carpathian Wildlife Observation Experience.
From a specially selected forest hide, with ranger access, you may have the opportunity to observe some of Romania's most fascinating wildlife in its natural environment.
Return to Brașov in the evening.

Day 3 – Piatra Mare & Seven Ladders Canyon
Today you enter the mountains for your first full day of hiking.
A short private transfer takes you to the starting point in the Piatra Mare Mountains, where the trail follows forest paths towards the spectacular Seven Ladders Canyon.
The narrow limestone gorge is shaped by a series of waterfalls and equipped with metal ladders and walkways, creating one of the most distinctive hiking experiences near Brașov.
For guests who prefer not to use the ladders, an alternative hiking route can be arranged.
Those looking for an additional challenge can extend the hike towards the summit of Piatra Mare, enjoying increasingly panoramic views over the surrounding Carpathians.

Day 4 – Along the Via Transilvanica
Râșnov – Bran
Today you begin walking on Via Transilvanica, Romania's celebrated long-distance hiking trail.
After a short transfer to Râșnov, set out through rolling hills, forests and traditional pastures, with magnificent views towards the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains.
The landscape gradually changes as you approach Bran, one of Transylvania's most evocative mountain destinations.
After completing the hike, enjoy some free time to explore the picturesque village and its surroundings.

Day 5 – Bran Castle & Rural Transylvania
Bran – Poiana Mărului – Măgura
Begin the day with a visit to Bran Castle, one of Romania's most famous landmarks, before continuing deeper into the countryside.
The hiking route follows another scenic section of Via Transilvanica, crossing hay meadows, quiet forests and traditional farming landscapes before reaching Poiana Mărului.
From here, a short transfer takes you into the mountains and to Măgura, one of the most authentic traditional villages in the Romanian Carpathians.
Surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of Piatra Craiului National Park, Măgura offers an opportunity to experience a slower rhythm of rural mountain life.
In the evening, enjoy a relaxed tasting of local wines, artisan cheeses and traditional plum brandy, accompanied by an introduction to local food traditions.

Day 6 – Into the Heart of Piatra Craiului National Park
Măgura – Zărnești Gorges – Curmătura – Șirnea
Today is one of the most spectacular hiking days of the journey.
Leaving Măgura, descend towards the impressive Zărnești Gorges, a dramatic limestone canyon framed by towering cliffs and one of the principal gateways into Piatra Craiului National Park.
From the gorges, the trail climbs through dense beech and spruce forests towards Curmătura Mountain Hut at 1,470 m, one of the best-known mountain huts in the Romanian Carpathians.
After a well-deserved break, continue towards Șaua Joaca, where the landscape opens to magnificent views of the Piatra Craiului Ridge and the surrounding mountain villages.
The final section descends through peaceful meadows and forests via Curmătura Groapelor to Șirnea, a traditional mountain village where rural traditions remain very much alive.
A short private transfer then takes you to Fundata.

Day 7 – From Fundata into the Bucegi Mountains
After breakfast, a 40–50-minute private transfer takes you into the Bucegi Mountains.
Today's full-day hike explores the wilder northern landscapes of Bucegi Natural Park, gradually moving from traditional mountain scenery into more open and dramatic terrain.
Depending on weather, trail conditions and the group's abilities, your mountain guide will select the most rewarding route for the day.
Expect peaceful forests, mountain meadows, panoramic viewpoints and a growing sense of wilderness as you move deeper into the Bucegi.

Day 8 – Bucegi Plateau & Sinaia
Continue exploring the spectacular landscapes of Bucegi Natural Park before beginning your descent towards Sinaia, traditionally known as the “Pearl of the Carpathians.”
The route offers a final day of panoramic mountain scenery, open alpine landscapes and views across the Carpathian valleys.
Depending on weather, trail conditions and the group's preferences, your guide will select the most appropriate route towards Sinaia.
After arriving in Sinaia, enjoy time to relax or take a leisurely walk through the elegant historic center of this famous mountain resort.

Am I fit enough for this journey?
You should be comfortable walking for 6–9 hours on mountain terrain and managing significant elevation changes. Previous experience with full-day hikes is recommended.
Is this a hiking tour or a cultural tour?
It is a combination of both. Hiking is at the heart of the experience, but the itinerary also includes medieval towns, Bran Castle, traditional villages, local food experiences, and opportunities to discover rural Romanian culture.
Is the journey suitable for first-time visitors to Romania?
Yes. The itinerary offers a broad introduction to Transylvania while also taking you beyond the classic tourist routes and into the Carpathian Mountains.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Mountain safety comes first. Your guide will monitor conditions and may adjust or replace a route when necessary.
Do I need to carry my luggage?
No. Luggage transfers are included throughout the journey. You only need a small backpack with the items required for each day's hike.
Are the mountain accommodations comfortable?
Yes, although accommodation in remote mountain areas naturally has a different character from a city hotel. The properties have been selected for their location, hospitality and connection with the surrounding landscape.
Can I travel privately?
