What You Can Expect

Day Trip to the Epic 7 Ladders Canyon from Brasov.
We start the tour from Brasov (we pick you up from your location), head to the Seven Ladders Canyon (Canionul Sapte Scari) - an interesting karstic phenomenon - in the Piatra Mare range, part of the Southern Carpathian Mountains. Once there was a cave here, whose roof collapsed to show the steep and close walls of the canyon. This stunning gorge is famed for its steep ladders that take you up the rock walls past a series of rushing waterfalls. On arrival, set off along meadow and forest paths, reaching the canyon after a 45-minute hike. Then, opt to rest here or enter the rock chasm with your experienced guide. Head inside, and spend the next 15 minutes or so crossing the bridges and climbing each of the near-vertical metal ladders that make up the gorge. As you go, enjoy thrilling close-up views of the tumbling waters and the towering rock walls around you. After your trek, rejoin your group and choose between a 1.5-hour return route or a harder 2 to 3 hour trail, walking back through forests and glades to your vehicle. After your hike, your tour ends back at your Brașov hotel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are entrance fees not included in the tour price? Are there any other hidden costs?

We recognize that flexibility is important for our guests. That is why we separate entrance fees from the tour price. Some may have their own discounted tickets or prefer to skip certain attractions. This approach allows you to pay only for what you genuinely wish to experience. We assure you there are no hidden costs; we clearly outline all additional expenses, such as entrance fees and optional drop-offs, so you know exactly what to expect.

Where exactly is the meeting point? Can I be picked up from my hotel or dropped off at a different location?

The main meeting point is in front of Biblioteca Județeană "George Barițiu" at Bulevardul Eroilor 33-35. We completely understand that convenience matters; therefore, we offer complimentary pick-up from various locations within Brașov, including areas outside the old town. If you have a specific drop-off location in mind, we are happy to assist with that for a small additional fee. Just let us know 24 hours in advance, and we will make the necessary arrangements.

Is this tour only available in English? Are there guides who speak other languages?

Currently, we offer the tour in English year-round. However, we fully understand that language preferences vary. If you require a guide who speaks another language, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We will do our utmost to accommodate your request, depending on the availability of our guides.

How fit do I need to be for this tour?

You don’t need to be a professional hiker—many people join us with just a moderate level of fitness. The hike includes some uphill and downhill walking, as well as climbing metal ladders, but we always move at a pace that feels comfortable for everyone.

Is it safe to climb the ladders?

Absolutely! Your safety is our top priority. The ladders are sturdy and well-maintained, and your guide will be right there to support you every step of the way.

What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?

We understand that the weather can be unpredictable. If conditions aren’t great, we’re happy to either reschedule your tour or provide you with a full refund—whatever works best for you.

Will it be crowded?

We know how important a peaceful experience can be. It can get busy during summer weekends, but if you choose to visit on a weekday or during the spring or autumn, you’ll likely find it much quieter.

What should I wear or bring?

To keep you comfortable, we recommend wearing sturdy, waterproof hiking shoes and warm clothing. It’s also a good idea to pack a small backpack with water, snacks, and a rain jacket, just in case we encounter some unexpected weather.

Can kids come along?

Yes, we love having families join us! Children are welcome, but they do need to be accompanied by an adult. Please keep in mind that younger kids or those who might not enjoy heights could find the ladders a little tricky.

How far in advance do I need to book?

We recommend booking at least one day before your tour by 8 PM to ensure everything is set for your adventure.

How long does the tour take?

The whole experience lasts about 4 hours. The return hike can take around 1.5 hours on the easier trail, or 2-3 hours if you're up for a bit more of a challenge!

Great tour to the 7 ladder canyon

Had a really great time on the guided tour through the 7 ladder canyon. Bogdan the guide was experienced, gave some interesting information about nature and history. Also we went up to the mountain where Bogdan took care of the group and make sure there was a break when needed. The trail was beautiful and the view on top was stunning. Great tour that I would definitely recommend.

Day trip to 7 canyons

Had a great trip to the canyon with Alex as the guide. He was friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience enjoyable. The walk was mostly relaxed, though there were some steep sections, especially on the way down. I'd recommend wearing boots or proper walking shoes.

Great guide, scenic not strenuous, close to Brasov

While the walk was very nice — and since we went at 9 on a Tuesday, no other people — the best part was the history and information from our guide, Zsolt Bara. Local history as well as being able to provide hiking/wilderness informations, and information on other regions of Romania. Since both I and the other tour member were Austrian/German we learned some cool things about the German influence since the days of the empire. Also no one was eaten by bears, so very good! (Joke of course) This is especially good for someone who has not been in Romanian hiking before/wants a more involved trip out. Because you can hike anywhere in the world, but you can only get this kind of experience with local informations. Also nothing to be afraid of, these ladders, as long as you don’t have phobia of climbing.
