Sample tailor-made tour made for a German family, July 2016 - Self-guided
Day 1: Private transfer from Bucharest airport to Padina hut (about 3-4 hours), located in Bucegi Natural Park. Accommodation at Padina Chalet for 3 nights in a 4-bed room, shower and toilet on the corridor (shared facilities) or at a good 3* hotel.
Day 2: Breakfast. Full-day hiking tour in the area (we provide you with information and a map). Today you can visit Ialomicioara cave.
Day 3: Breakfast. Full-day hiking tour in the area (we provide you with information and a map).
Day 4: Breakfast. 3rd day of hiking in Bucegi Natural Park. You start the hike from Padina Hut, at 1525 m, you hike up to 1909 m in Strunga Saddle, about 2 hours, then you go down to Moeciu de Sus village (about 6 hours in total; medium, uphill/ downhill walk: 400 m / 1000 m). Accommodation at a 3* guesthouse for 1 night in Fundata village (about 40 minutes transfer).
Day 5: Breakfast. Today we trek crossing the most authentic and beautiful mountain villages from the bottom of the Bucegi Natural Park and Piatra Craiului National Park - Fundata - Sirnea (the first tourist village of Romania) - Pestera - Magura, meeting the locals (about 5 - 6 hours; easy to medium, uphill/ downhill walk: 200 m / 200 m). From Fundata village, you walk about 800 m on the national road (no other way) to continue the trek. Accommodation in a village guesthouse in Magura Village for 1 night.
About Sirnea village: to develop the town and attract as many tourists as possible, Professor Nicolae Fruntes initiated two feasts: "The measure of milk and the meeting of the village sons" held every June and "Winter at Sirnea", aimed at presenting the customs of the villagers, both during summer and winter. Launched in 1969, the feast "Winter at Sirnea" entails a skiing race with torches in hands, sleigh rides, and parties organized at the Cultural Centre.
Day 6: Breakfast. Full day hiking tour in Piatra Craiului National Park, crossing Zarnesti Gorges, going up to the only mountain hut in the National Park (1450 m), where you can have a lunch, then going down to Zarnesti town (about 6-7 hours; medium, uphill/ downhill walk: 800 m / 800 m). Transfer Zarnesti – Brasov (about 45 minutes, 40 km). Accommodation in Brasov at a 3* guesthouse for 2 nights.
Day 7: Breakfast. Free day in Brasov.
Day 8: Breakfast. Private transfer to Bucharest airport. From here they rented a car and drove to Tulcea city to spend 3 days in the Danube Delta - the second largest river delta in Europe, after the Volga Delta, and is the best preserved on the continent. The Danube delta hosts over 300 species of birds as well as 45 freshwater fish species in its numerous lakes and marshes. The Razim–Sinoe lagoon complex is geologically and ecologically related to the delta proper, and the combined territory is listed as a World Heritage Site.
