Description Backpacking Romania, Bucegi mountains - Ciubotea ridge and Gaura Valley

The weather was perfect for a day hiking tour: September 30, 2014!

We started at 9:00 am and in about 1 hour we passed nearby the former hunting lodge Ciubotea - a perfect location to build a very nice and cosy mountain hut; from here you have a great view to Piatra Craiului National Park and mountain villages from Bran area! The climb is steep - from 800 m to 2.422 m to Scara Peak - but rewarding, the pictures "speak" themselves... In 4 hours we reached the Scara Peak, we had a look to the Tiganesti valley with its glacial lakes, had a quick lunch nearby the "Hornurile Malaiestilor" and we decided to go down on Gaura glaciel valley with a short stop to the waterfall "Moara Dracului" - the Evil waterfall! This part of the mountain looks like a natural fortress. We saw some bears and stags footprints, also. We ended this amazing hiking tour around 5:30 pm.
