Accommodation in Brasov to 3* pension. 2nd day: Breakfast. Transfer Brasov – to starting point of first trekking day: Piatra Mare Mountain (10 km). Duration: 5-6 hours, medium effort, uphill/downhill walk: 800 m/800 m. We start the trekking tour to the top of the mountain on red stripe sign (2 – 3 hours to the Chalet Piatra Mare – 1628 m). This route is a easy one, with large path. To the top of the mountain (1843 m), from the Chalet, about 1 hour. We go down on the yellow stripe sign (about 3 hours) trekking through "7 Ladders canyon". This route is medium, with narrow path, sometimes steep."The Seven Ladders Canyon" it is one of the main attractions for the tourists hiking the rocky paths of the Piatra Mare (Big Rock) mountain. Its waterfall – the Seven Ladders Waterfall – is the second in Europe as length. Transfer to Brasov. 3rd day: Breakfast. Transfer Brasov – Bran town (30 km). Second day of trekking: Piatra Craiului National Park – we trek through 2 authentic mountain villages - very nice countryside. Duration: 4-5 hours, medium effort, uphill/downhill walk: 400 m/400 m. We start the trekking tour from Bran, on the red stripe sign on the main route which link Bucegi Mountains to the Piatra Craiului National Park. The route is easy, through forest and meadows, with great views to both mountains and to the Bran area with his mountain villages. In about 2 hours we see the first mountain village – Magura. The path goes directly to the main road of Magura village where you will find the new sign – red cross. We start to trek on red cross sign from Magura village to the next mountain village – Pestera (2 hours, easy route, large path). You arrive at a junction point with point marking of the trekking routes. Make left and after 500 m you find Casa Folea boarding house on the left side of the road. Accommodation. 4th day: Breakfast. The heart of Piatra Craiului National Park - Pestera Village – Curmatura hut (1470 m) - no private facilities. Accommodation in dormitory. Duration: 5-6 hours, medium effort, uphill/downhill walk: 500 m/100 m. From the Casa Folea boarding house, follow back the road 500 m and turn to the left. In this point, at the write side, you have the signs as you saw yesterday. So, we turn to the left and continue the trekking tour on the red cross sign, about 2 hours, to the "La table" point (this is a cross point where 8 trekking routes meet). From here we follow the red triangle to the Curmatura chalet (about 2 hours). The route is easy to medium, follow nice and large meadows, hardwood and pine forests, up and down, to the bottom of the Piatra Craiului Mountain ("Rock of the King" or "King's Stone"). The route it is very good marked – red triangle – and ends in front of the Curmatura hut. 5th day: Breakfast. Trekking tour on the whole main ridge of Piatra Craiului (2238 m the highest altitude). Lunch to go. Duration: 8-9 hours, medium to hard, uphill/downhill walk: 700 m/1.300 m. Accommodation to Plaiul Foii Chalet (859 m). This trekking day will test your abilities on the mountain: the main ridge of the King's Stone; the ridge is regarded as one of the most beautiful sights in the Carpathians, but is a narrow and saw-like ridge! From Curmatura hut (1470 m) we follow blue triangle sign which go up directly to the main ridge route (2 – 3 hours) to the "Varful Ascutit" refuge (Spike peak refuge) – 2150 m. The route is steep, at one moment you have cables to help you. From the refuge follow the red point sign, on the main ridge, to the highest peek of the King's Stone – "La om" – 2238 m (2 -3 hours). The route goes up and down, following the main ridge which is a narrow and saw-like ridge. From the highest peak we follow the red stripe sign down to the Plaiul Foii chalet – 859 m (2 – 3 hours). This part of the route it is very steep, with rocks, small canyons, with a lot of cables for your help. So, please be careful! This part takes about 1 hour – 1 hour and a half. The final part of the route is easy, on large path. The route it is very good marked – red stripe – and ends in front of the Plaiul Foii chalet. Make sure you get enough water (at least 1 l.) as there is no water on the way. 6th day: Breakfast. Transfer to Brasov. On our way to Brasov visit Bran Castle (the Castle was built by the Knights of the Teutonic Order between 1211 – 1225) and Rasnov Fortress (the Fortress was built in stone and brick around the year 1215 by the Teutonic Knights). Accommodation. Hike on the Tampa mountain (960 m). The view from the summit is spectacular, offering a panoramic view of the city. The route is easy, you can take the cable car to the top and go down by foot (about 1 hour). Optional Brasov walking tour by night with guide. 7th day: Breakfast. Transfer to Poiana Brasov resort – the main ski resort in Romania (12 km). Trekking in Postavaru Mountain. Duration: 4-5 hours, medium, uphill/downhill walk: 700 m/700 m. We will trek to the Postavaru Mountain, from Poiana Brasov ski resort (1200 m) to the highest peak (1799 m). It is not very high, thus not as spectacular as other mountains in the Carpathians, but it has some good ski slopes and beautiful scenery. The route is easy to medium. You can take the cable car and go down by foot (about 2 hours).Transfer Poiana Brasov – Brasov. Accommodation. 8th day: Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Details about trekking tour: - optimal time: June - October - transportation - car - the tourist will carry luggage on day 5 - mountain tour requires a good physical shape, with resistance to low effort but for long duration. - accommodation is done in mountain chalets and boarding houses.
